Welcome to NOVA Car Seat Checks

Parenting comes with challenges, but making sure your
child's car seat is installed properly shouldn't be one of them.

NOVA Car Seat Checks provides education on the features and limits of your car seat so you'll feel confident in your ability to install your child's seat properly every time.

Why choose NOVA Car Seat Checks?

Lauren Russo educates moms

In America, an estimated 59% of car seats are installed or used incorrectly (1).

At NOVA Car Seat Checks, we know you love your child and want the best for them; we ALL do! As Americans, we spend a lot of time in the car with our kids, so we should do everything in our power to keep them as safe as possible.

Getting your car seat checked by a Certified Child Passenger Seat Technician (CPST) can keep your skills and knowledge current and your child safe in his or her car seat. Have a CPST check the installation and provide education today, for a safer ride tomorrow.

Hi, I'm Lauren.

I’m a mom to six kids and your friendly neighborhood CPST serving Northern Virginia and surrounding areas.

I began installing car seats in 2013 when I was pregnant with my first child. In 2017, I gained three bonus children who had three different car seats and boosters. I read A LOT of car seat manuals that year as we frequently shuffled car seats between our F150, my little Volkswagen, and my in-laws’ vehicles.

Fast forward to 2021 and 2023, I had two more babies and was launched back into the world of infant seats. "Where’s the level? Wait, it doesn’t have to be level? What’s the LATCH system again???" I had a lot to learn…again.

I became a CPST so that parents like you can feel confident in their car seat installation, their child’s fit in the seat, and can show other caregivers like grandparents and nannies how to do it right EVERY TIME.

After a car seat check, my clients consistently chime in with similar feedback:

"I just had the absolute pleasure of a one-on-one at home car seat consult with Lauren. She worked on car seats in our two vehicles and made recommendations for our 3 children."

  • She took the time to meticulously check each car seat and explain what she noticed to me as she worked.
  • Before she did anything she asked for permission, like placing my kids in the seat, changing seat incline, and adjusting buckles.
  • She kept a lighthearted and warm rapport with my children and made them feel comfortable and included in the process as they played near us while she worked!

After seeing her adjustments, I felt stunned and dismayed that I was driving around with them before. The seats originally shifted quite a bit and are now completely secure. Additionally, I didn't know that some of the accessories I had in my car are not approved for use with our car seats.

The harnesses fit my children’s bodies so much more snugly and I could see in their posture they are now sitting more upright.

I can’t recommend this service enough to busy parents with multiple children!

"You will be so surprised at how much you don't know about car seats after meeting with Lauren."
